August, 2008. This is history month in Papa Joe's Fantastic World because my new serial is about the fall of Rome and the dark ages that followed.
My horror novella, The Hierophant, is still in edit stage at the time of this update. It is scheduled to for eBook release in October. I'll keep you posted on its progress. It concerns, a Medieval castle, a woman on the edge of madness, the paranormal, obsessed scientists, mysterious events, murder, a torrid love affair and an unholy experiment.
My new series, Raven Lenore, Psychic Investigator, is best read after midnight or in a thunderstorm. In the case of The Spirit in the Bottle, Raven helps an FBI agent friend solve a murder. One of the clues is a strange ancient vessel. What it contains has a profound affect on Raven's life. In the sequel, The Case of the Missing Corpse, when Raven is hired to solve a case involving a missing corpse, she goes underground and meets The Beast. The third book in the series is The Case of the House Who Ate People. Someone has replaced the president of the United States with an android. But where is the real president? To find out more about these novels, go to my Raven Lenore page.
Be sure to check out The Morgaine Chronicles series, available at PageTurner Editions and Fictionwise. A beautiful woman falls in love with a famous astrologer and psychic. She is led into a strange world populated by witches, vampires, ghosts and other strange and eerie persons, creatures and events. There are eight novels in this series.
Science Fiction
The Isaac Project is the story of how the first truly humanoid robot could have been developed. A review can be found at the TCM web site. Also check out Love Among the Stars, science fiction love stories.
My latest projects are a novel about a man who falls in love with an android, the sequal to Galactic Chess and the mad adventures of the archeologist, Charles Winterbottom. Watch for their appearance.
There is a review of my science fiction thriller, Star Tower at the SF Crow's Nest.
Also, I would like to point you to a science fiction anthology called Forbidden Speculation available on Amazon.
If you like high fantasy with a humorous touch, you may want to buy The Book of Retslu, about a youth who is cursed by a sorcerer to always go the wrong way. It is available in print and eBook editions from Mundania Press, Amazon and Barnes and Noble . For a review of The Book of Retslu by Leslie Halpern, go to her reviews on her My Shelf page. Here is a brief quote from her review:
"The author takes great pleasure in creating clever names for the multitude of characters that inhabit these strange lands. The places, people, situations, and genres jump around through time in a humorous, fantastic mix that should delight most readers. In 34 short chapters, The Book of Retslu takes readers on a wild journey with no clear beginning or ending, which adds to the confusion...and the fun."
The sequal to The Book of Retslu is called The Search for Prince Knight Black. The story is about what happens after the beautiful princess marries the handsome prince. Sometimes things just don't work out. The prince splits, and the king sends his best people to find him.
Mordrake's Apprentice and Other Tales of Retslu, available at Pageturner Editions and Fictionwise, contains stories of magick gone wrong, inept knights, incredibly dopey kings, encounters with dragons, sorcerers and witches, as well as adventures in the fantasy land of Retslu. Hope you find these stories as much fun as I did writing them.
My new serial The Dark Ages is a tale of a barbarian who battles the Roman Empire, but is torn between two women, one a witch, the other a devotee of the strange new religion called Christianity. This month is the first episode.
In My blog I discuss Armageddon.
This month my Art Gallery features photos of strange places and other oddities.
